This 2-day hands-on performance-oriented session will try to bring you all the long way back to the earliest days of the organic battery, to re-discover it and connect it to contemporary Low power consumption Integrated Circuit Hex Inverters. The weak energy concept when made in connection with an organic battery, makes this experiment possible, exciting and non-harmful (although generally forbidden in the world of electronic circuits).

Using only organic materials we will turn electrical confusion into sound by having it travel through circuits powered by different organic sources to get away from the idea of the battery only as an energy storage system. We invite you to think of the battery as an artistic-experiment, approaching it's changing aesthetic from a different angles - the musical one; to value the organic battery as an unstable noise generator, something that is temporary and commercially insufficient. We challenge ourselves to build organic battery systems from different foodstuff and play it freely as a musical instrument without diving too much into history, chemistry, electronic-laws etc; to discover the most interesting things about the battery - the ways that different materials can affect the battery itself and the function of a simple electronic sound-circuit (miss)playing both of them.

Daily

Day 1 (ñ)
Making batteries, involving various kind of food and drinks, determining current and voltage.
Wiring cells in series, parallel and mixed.
Building a simple sound module based on Hex Inverter IC
Powering and playing it with your organic battery.

Day 2 (JohnG + ñ)
Constructing and testing collective musical experience.
Evening: neo-future BATTERY GALA!!

Participation
Every one who likes to experiment
9 maximum
Fee
100 eek both days
Remember to bring
Creative energy and joy to play around with the 'battery-noise' Different foodstuffs and drinks: Boiled(!) and raw potatoes and any other fresh and boiled vegetables; fruits on your choice; acidic liquids, coca-cola, wine, beer. Cheese is good electrolyte too. You might also use some old food, not to waste a fresh food.
Soldering iron (if you have one)

The rest is provided. No previous knowledge or experience with batteries and electrical circuits is necessary.

DEAD FROG ALIVE

DEAD FROG ALIVE - wet-cell-battery WORKSHOP
October ???, 2010, ??AM - ??PM
With: Natalia Borissova Ru/De
@ MitOst Festival 2010 - PERM/Russia
Invitation :: mitost.org

We won't be torturing frogs, while coming all that long way back to the earliest days of the organic battery. We will be trying to re-discover it, connect it to contemporary Low power consumption Integrated Circuit Hex Inverters and find out some most interesting things about the battery - the ways that different materials (from which you will be making your battery) can affect the battery itself and the functioning of electronic components. The weak energy concept when made in connection with an organic battery, makes this experiment possible, exciting and non-harmful (although generally forbidden in the world of electronic circuits).

RECONSTRUCTION & MIGRATION

aa-vv is in the process of diy reconstruction (always), migration to Drupal and to the free cultural server called Sanchez.
(apologize for any inconveniences btw... and thanx to Heike Sigert/Markus Arning for the coding-help and Sanchez for this free digital embrace..)
